The Swarf Removal System (SRS) is based on two concentric Drums, which rotate. The Inner Drum has large perforations and the outer Drum has replaceable fine mesh panels.
The milling fluid along with the waste metal (Swarf), the product of well casing cutting, is passed to the Inner Drum.
The fluid, which has to be returned to the milling process for further use, passes through the perforations and meshes into a Collecting Tank below the Drums and via this Tank back to the mud pits. The Swarf is trapped within the drums, which are set at a shallow angle.
Due to the angle of inclination and the rotation of the Drum, the Swarf in the Drums is caused to travel down the length of the Drum exiting the open end and by way of a Chute into Waste Skips for disposal.
